NHS Property Services is presented with an International Safety Award for protecting its employees from the risk of injury and ill health at work.
NHS Property Services has won an International Safety Award with a Merit from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2020 calendar year.
Now in their 63rd year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also recognise organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work.
NHS Property Services is committed to support the NHS by developing a positive and strong safety culture to ensure everyone who works for us, and those affected by what we do, goes home safe and well.
Our workforce undertake a diverse range of jobs from those lone workers driving from job to job to fix lights and clean spillages, to our construction team on site at a new development, our surveyors inspecting patient buildings and colleagues who work in offices or more likely, from home, these days.
With such a diverse group of people to look after, we have created a Health and Safety Management System made up of guidance, risk assessments, training, alerts, forums and champions to ensure the health and safety of our people and those who our work impacts.
Sheena Eyre, Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, said: "We are committed to continue to improve health, safety and wellbeing at work and developing a positive safety culture throughout NHS Property Services. I am very proud of the team and all those across NHSPS promoting health and safety at work for helping us achieve this award from The British Safety Council."
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated NHS Property Services on their success in winning an International Safety Award 2021 with a Merit: “The British Safety Council applauds NHS Property Services on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and hard work to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health. The vision of the British Safety Council is that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also more and more to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit. Our heartfelt congratulations to NHS Property Services. All of those working there should be enormously proud of their achievement.”
