Partnering with Warrington and Halton Teach Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WHH) to deliver a £3 million multi-use healthcare facility

Warrington faced significant health inequalities, with life expectancy of around 65 years, compared to the national average of 80 years. Health and social care services were oversubscribed, with around one-fifth of GP consultations for social or non-health reasons.

Overview

We initially negotiated the lease and then led the five-month refurbishment of a three-storey building, converting retail spaces for clinical use. The Living Well Hub opened in March 2024, providing assessment rooms, group session rooms, clinical and non-clinical consultation rooms, a children’s play area and a café in central Warrington.

Impact

  • Addresses health inequalities: Through a centrally located, easily accessible facility that is improving community engagement for over 5,000 people.
  • Better access to health and wellbeing services: Providing primary care and community services in the city centre makes it far easier to attend appointments using good, reliable public transport links.
  • Reduces pressure on emergency services: Increased primary care capacity meant less emergency department visits, where people often go if they can’t see their GP.
  • Supports town centre regeneration: By attracting potential shoppers to the city centre.
