An established movement of more than 1,000 employers, The 5% Club provides opportunities to develop the skills and talents colleagues need to become more employable and create meaningful careers.
Suzanne Jones, Head of Learning and Development for the government-owned NHS property experts said: “We are thrilled to announce that NHS Property Services is now a proud member of The 5% Club, a commitment to ensuring at least 5% of our colleagues are apprentices, or graduates on formal programmes.
“We look forward to sharing our first accreditation later this year following the result of our first employer audit, and to continue developing our people to support NHSPS in being the first choice NHS estate service delivery organisation, enabling our colleagues across the NHS to deliver excellent patient care.”
Expected benefits for NHS Property Services as a result of the membership include:
• Skills Development: Enhancing the skills of our workforce through continuous learning.
• Career Growth: Providing clear career paths and professional development opportunities.
• Community Impact: Supporting local communities by creating education and employment opportunities.
• Attracting and Retaining Talent: Becoming an attractive employer for top talent with innovative perspectives.
Organisations joining The 5% Club commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years. Members are also asked to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report. Existing members range from SMEs to FTSEs and cover all sectors including engineering, transport, and financial services.
Member companies can also achieve accredited Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze membership status through the annual Employer Audit. The Club was founded in 2013, and uses its platform, and record of success to engage with policymakers and influencers on issues of concern and relevance, specifically increasing awareness and activity that links skills investment with discernible social impact.
Gill Cronin, Director of Operations of The 5% Club said, “We are delighted to welcome NHS Property Services into membership. The 5% Club provides a fantastic network of HR and L&D professionals, sharing and learning from each other. All our members share an ethos of creating a skilled workforce through ‘earn and learn’ development programmes, helping people develop meaningful career paths.”
