The 5th December is the UN’s International Volunteering Day and we are celebrating our amazing NHS Property Services volunteers.

NHSPS volunteers have been donating their time, skills and hard work to worthwhile organisations, supporting our local communities, and addressing health inequalities across England. This includes supporting foodbanks to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food and creating safe play areas for children.
So far this financial year, 419 NHS Property Service colleagues have volunteered using their volunteering hours. This equates to an incredible 2894 hours of volunteering with 68 different organisations!
Thanks to NHSPS volunteers, we estimate that over 4,000 people have benefited from volunteering sessions so far this year. From the patients enjoying the outdoors in their new garden everyday now in Cornwall, to the elderly visitors who feel less lonely after their bingo session in Manchester, your volunteering has made a tangible impact to our communities, helping people become healthier and happier. We have received a few messages of thanks from our volunteering partners:
“We had the NHSPS volunteering group with and just wanted to say they were fantastic. I just wanted to say a massive thank you from myself and all our team for the work you did with us. It was a pleasure having you with us.” – Age Concern Manchester
"The NHSPS teams have been incredibly helpful and supportive. Their continued support of the project has helped us develop the team volunteering days to the point where they are now an integral part of our work. The food bank literally could not operate without the support of organisations such as NHSPS."- ARC Community Space
"Over the past year, we have worked with two fantastic groups from NHSPS. Both groups were a joy to host, and NHSPS's volunteer days have had a lasting impact on the Story Garden, and will continue to for years to come! Thank you!" Global Generation Story Garden
We are proud that NHSPS colleagues make great use of their volunteering hours and not only do we give back to our communities but we come together in doing so. All NHSPS colleagues get 15 Volunteering Hours Allowance (pro rata for part time staff) and we are encouraging colleagues to take part in one of the many opportunities we have available!
“I’d definitely recommend taking part in a volunteering day, there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. It feels incredible to have brightened someone else’s day. Volunteering is an investment that NHSPS makes and we shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity."
