Challenge
The local NHS Trust needed assistance accommodating Designability – a charity specialising in the WhizzyBug Children’s Wheelchair – for them to continue their work during a period the Trust need more space within their main hospital site for COVID-19 activities.
Solution
NHSPS teams quickly identified suitable space in their portfolio, proposed occupation terms, and set out a plan to get Designability onto site. In the space of a few weeks, we handed over the keys having negotiated a flexible agreement, provided support in ensuring all required services were up and running as well as clearing the space in preparation for occupation.
Impact
Swift collaborative actions across NHS organisations ensured business continuity for a valuable children’s charity during the COVID-19 pandemic and took pressure off the main hospital site so that the Trust could maximise COVID-19 support for the community.
Supporting the NHS during COVID-19
We have recommissioned and reconfigured space across our estate during COVID-19 to provide additional capacity for treatment and testing, delivering space for over 1,000 beds so far.
