This month's Hospital Times magazine features Chris King, Senior Strategic Asset Manager at NHS Property Services, on how our new initiative NHS Open Space is bringing technology to the NHS estate.
Chris explores the problem we faced of no single fit-for-purpose solution for booking flexible space across the NHS estate, and how NHS Property Services have sought to tackle this with NHS Open Space. He explains the success we have seen during the two-year pilot and how the programme has evolved since going fully live in 20 sites in April this year, with further plans for expansion in the next two years.
"NHS Property Services (NHSPS) is actively working to transform the NHS Estate, in line with the LTP, so that the NHS can continue to deliver world-class care to its patients. Since 2016, we have been developing a hybrid estate and technology solution to “sessional space”. Sessional space constitutes clinical and non-clinical rooms available to be booked on an hourly, sessional or daily basis. This flexible space is vital in providing services with cost effective access to local communities."
